Measuring without the wrapper marks
If the wrapper's gone, weigh it: butter is 113 g per stick, 227 g per cup. Softened butter pressed into a measuring cup traps air pockets, so pack it down firmly and level the top — or better, use the water-displacement trick for odd amounts. Melted butter measures the same as solid by weight, but always melt after measuring.
